Run, Jump, Throw.

The past 6 weeks, we had run jump throw with coach Declan. He is a coach from a company called “Kelly Sports.” The first two weeks, we had to learn how to get ready when you are participating in a race and how to run. The week after we had practiced how to run, we had to learn how to jump. In the last two weeks we learnt how to throw. These were my favourite sessions because there was a game called “Knock Down The Wicket.” The team that had most points, they got 10 minutes of play time on their Chromebooks. Three teams won, including my team. It was fun but the fun was over. I hope we do it again next year.

Watch Out!!!

The earthquake hit the north of Christchurch near Hanmer Springs at 12:02 in the morning. The earthquake struck 16m deep. It was then followed by more than a dozen aftershocks across the country including two 6.2 magnitude quakes near Kaikoura.

A tsunami warning has been issued to a number of areas around New Zealand. This includes all of the East Coast of New Zealand, both in the North Island and the South.  A 2m tsunami has hit Kaikoura.

Earthquake Advice: If you are in a house and a earthquake is going, please do not go outside sightseeing. Stay inside and remember to DROP, COVER and HOLD.

Tsunami Advice: If you are on a beach and the you see the sea getting sucked in, and you see the sea level getting higher, get to higher ground quickly.

Auckland Botanical Gardens

When we got there I saw a Tui, a native bird, different types of plants and different types of flowers. I also saw ponds, houses, decks, signs, people, (of course), different types of sculptures, bridges, ducks, different types of trees, frogs, eels, dogs, cars and insects. I heard lots of talking in different languages, noises of animals and a cool breeze.

I could smell flowers, perfume and dung! I got excited when we got to the Edible Garden because I wanted to see the fruits and vegetables but when I was looking I got a little bit cold. (Alright, I was very cold.) It was also my favourite garden area because it had fruit and vegetables and by the way, I love (not like) love fruit and vegetables!

My favourite flower was roses because I liked their colour and the smell that was filling the air. My favourite sculpture was the bird sculpture at the front of the building because I liked the creation that looked like a tornado.

It was a fun day there. It was my second time going there too!

My imaginary creature!

I was chosen to represent Room 10 at Ruapotaka's Poetry Recital this morning.  After reading the nonsense poem, Scroobious Pip, by Edward Lear, I created my own imaginary creature and here is my poem about him.

Electricity

Me, Tyron and Prudence made a slideshow about "Electricity" after the Vector people came and said about saving energy and how we get electricity into our house. The reason why we did it is because we want to show everyone who made electricity and why.

MEERKAT DEFENCE!!!!!

                                             Going To The ZOO!!!!!

Room 10, Room 9 and some of Rooms 7, 6 and 5 went to the zoo to look at the animals and complete our “Zoo Booklet”  that we had to take. This is where it all happened…

On the 12th of August 2016, Room 10, 9 and some of  Room 7,6 and 5s went to the zoo and got split up into groups. I was in Mr Meyer’s group with Henry, Robati, Tyron and Solomone. We went to see the tigers, meerkats, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, lemurs, lions, cheetahs, baboons, red pandas, American alligator, fish, elephants, flamingos, macaw, lovebirds, tortoises and many more. We ate our lunch where the elephants were and we saw elephant dung being made while we were eating. Yuck I think the loudest animal was the macaw because I think they were hungry for food. My favourite animal were the meerkats because they look so cute and I liked holding the stuffed meerkat. (There were two of them!) I was disappointed because I wanted to stay there but we had to go to school. It was a fun day!

Milo The Hero

Milo was a 6th Century BC wrestler that came from “Magna Graecia city of Croton”, who enjoyed a brilliant wrestling career and won many victories in the most important athletic festivals of Ancient Greece.Milo was a six-time Olympic victor.

Horse RACE!!!

If I would be in the Olympics that was held in Greece 2792 years ago, the sport that I would participate in would be “Horse Racing”.

WHY?

It is because that all my life I want to be on a horse, ride on a horse, and get my own horse. The other reason why is because I want to be in those carriages. Wait, what is it called again? Ah! A Chariot! They are so shiny and I have one question. What if they fall do
wn when they are in the race like they get into their carriages, Get Ready, Set, Go!, and they’re off and then …   BOOM HE FALLS DOWN! Something like that.

So what do YOU think?

Snag Golf

Last Thursday, the 16th of May 2016, there was a man named Mr. Jae and he taught us how to play Snag Golf. If you don’t know what Snag Golf is then I will tell you what it is. Snag Golf is like regular golf but it has like-a gutter board and has a sticky mat on top of it. The sticky things are called "Velcro". The sticky stuff has numbers on it too. There are numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Each number has its own colour. At the bottom of the number 1 has a target shape. You have to hit it to get a Snag. Zion and Tyron were in my team. We had 15 snags. It was fun.

A Celebration For Parents

On the 26th of May 2016

Whanau Hui

Yesterday we had a Chromebook celebration and my dad came into my room. I had to show him my work that I had made. I made a screencastify and showed him the class blog and the class site. I showed my dad my blog and the WeVideo that I made. I did a survey with my dad and introduced him to Mrs Grant and Yayleen Hubbard. After that my dad signed a bit of paper to bring my Chromebook home. Then my dad went to get a banana and I went to get some crackers with cheese and a juice box. It was great to take my Chromebook home. My internet at home was poor because it kept on going off and on, off and on.

Swimming With The Instructors

On the last day of swimming with the instructors, they tested how much I swam in the pool. The high standard was 8 lengths and when I started to swim in the pool, I thought I was going to do 6 lengths. After I did 1 length, I thought to myself I could do it and did 8 lengths. That was 100 meters.
